The Canadian Aquafitness Leaders Alliance is designed to provide top-notch training and access to up-to-date information for fitness leaders. This course provides the leader with the tools necessary to facilitate safe, productive and innovative group aquafitness classes. The course is based on practical application of the theory using an integrative approach to learning. Surpassing the national guidelines, CALA, a Canadian company, focuses on training which encourages the body to move, the mind to discover and the spirit to soar. Recognized as the gold standard in aquafitness leadership training, CALA provides solid research-based programs in both deep and chest deep water to meet the diverse needs of our communities.

This foundation certification course includes the essential tools necessary to design and lead safe, effective and holistic group aqua fitness classes.

The course content meets the needs of aspiring and current leaders, planning to lead excellent group aquafitness classes.

This course exceeds the Canadian Provincial and Federal Guidelines and Standards.

The course is accredited by many international and provincial fitness organizations.

Topics include: Cueing language, Visual cueing, the CALA movement bank and adding additional bonus movements, moving to music and the power of choreography, adding tempo changes to your class, implementing smooth transitions for your participants.

Pre-Requisite: CALA Foundations of Vertical Water Training Course or Completion of a Letter of Acceptance to Bypass the VWT Course.

Upon completing the course, you will need to submit a GAF assignment or mock class plan for an assessor to grade. Upon passing this component the last step is to submit a 30 minute video of you leading a real or mock aquafitness class. This too will be sent to an assessor and with a passing grade you will be CALA GAF certified and able to lead classes in your community.
